All I care about is AOTP.

That's not true, but I don't have much time to think or post these days. The new job is tough because I deal with kids who really aren't all that good at paying attention or doing their work.

If I'd had these kids since the beginning of the year, it might have been a different story. Even so, the school I work in now is a far cry from NYC. Administration is supportive and I have been able to reach a couple of parents (no language barrier!). The teaching part isn't bad at all.

AOTP will air starting around 6 pm EDT tomorrow night (Friday, May 25) on HomeGrownRadioNJ.com. It will run for about four hours.

I'll try to post this show and the previous show this weekend.

The latest AOTP update.

Just found out that Johnny C. has to leave early, so I'm gunning for a 6 p.m. start, traffic on I-80 west willing.

Good news for a friend.

The charges were dropped against my friend Rob, the other math teacher. Score one for the good guys.  Back story here.

A hell of a week for employment.

It's official - I must have set some kind of record by receiving three different job offers this week. Funny thing is, I'm going to take the one which is least certain. On Monday, I will be taking over three 8th-grade math classes in a public school district in the area for the remainder of the year. This will be considered as an audition for an opening this fall.

I also received offers from two private Catholic schools. In a way, they would be safer choices, but I'm just not that into religion and I feel I could have more of an impact at this particular school. The math chair is terrific and I'm sure I'll enjoy working with her. She thinks I have lots of potential. It's nice to be appreciated for my talents once again. I never once received an encouraging word from the administration at my previous school.

Reminder: AOTP time shift tonight.

All Over The Place moves up to 7 pm on Friday nights for the next three weeks. Even better - AOTP may be making a permanent move to that time slot in the future. The reason is actually a sad one - Jojo may be leaving the area in order to pursue graduate studies at some point. The move may not happen for a while, but I have been offered the slot if/when Jojo eventually vacates it. He's a great guy - check out his (rarely-updated) blog, The Brown Samana and listen for the BS show when it returns in mid-June.

The Heyman show.

It was a great show by Richard and his band (wife Nancy on bass and Kurt from The Grip Weeds on drums)  on Saturday night at the HGRNJ studio. Even better was the between-set interview that ended up getting commandeered by me. Turns out I knew the most about Richard's career. I got some nice compliments from Sher about the interview and I think the band appreciated meeting someone who actually knew a lot about the music. (It never hurts to read an artist's website before going to the interview.) I finally got to hear some of my Heyman favorites from way back performed live. They even played "Bad business in town" by request!

The Richard X. Heyman website

I'm hoping to get some photos from one of the other DJs (Sher) and if I'm really lucky, a copy of the show.

All Over The Place - HomegrownRadioNJ.com - 4 May 2007 (#48).

Here's the latest AOTP - I couldn't do a show on May 11 because I went to the Richard X. Heyman show at the HGRNJ studios on May 12. Kim gave me a choice and I chose Richard.

AOTP returns on Friday, May 18. For the next three weeks, AOTP will start at 7 p.m. EST because Jojo will be out for a while. Look for Jumpin' JB to follow me at 10 pm on May 25 and June 1.

All the Stephen Colbert you'll ever need.

Colbert On Demand shows highlights from Comedy Central's The Colbert Report, which is nice, since you can't find 'em on YouTube anymore.
