December 2007

2007.12.31

(Mostly) Obscure '80s indie pop from the UK.

A cruise through YouTube that was started by the discovery of Jim Jiminee's "Town and country blues":

Jim Jiminee - "Town and country blues":

The Man From Delmonte - "My love is like a gift you can't return":

Felt - "Primitive painters":

The Waltones - "She just looks right through me":

Yo La Tengo - Here comes my baby

We haven't done one of these in a while. I was sifting through my CD singles today and came across this old gem from a long-time favorite, YLT. First time I saw them was when they opened for The Sundays in 1990. My friend Michael was with me and he was much more impressed with YLT. We've been fans ever since. (And where are The Sundays now?)

I looked around but couldn't find this EP listed at Amazon or GEMM. Tracks 2 through 6 were recorded live in Berlin in May, 1989. Track 1 is from Fakebook and Track 7 was released through the Singles Only Label (which was run by Bob Mould).

01. Yo La Tengo - Here comes my baby

02. Yo La Tengo - The story of jazz

03. Yo La Tengo - Barstool blues

04. Yo La Tengo - Let's compromise

05. Yo La Tengo - At the river's edge

06. Yo La Tengo - Ecstasy blues

07. Yo La Tengo with Daniel Johnston - Speeding motorcycle
